White skies

White skies takes a glimpse at the West African Republic of Senegal through the eye of British - born photographer Rupert Sharpe, and shows a day in the life of one of the most fascinating emerging third-world nations. All the images were taken in the capital, Dakar, and in Saint Louis, Senegal's second city, next to the border with Mauritania during July 1998 and July 2000.

The photographer would like too thank Maya Leroy of the French National Centre for Tropical Agronomy (C.N.E.A.R.C) and Wim Mullie at the Food and Agriculture Organisation, Dakar.
